Phyllis Nicholson
Phyllis Nicholson, a native of Newton, Mississippi, graduated from The University of Southern Mississippi, Hattiesburg, with a B.S. degree in Elementary Education. She taught elementary school in Mississippi for approximately ten years followed by working in marketing and sales for two major convention cities Biloxi MS and Birmingham AL.
After marrying her best friend, Eddy, and moving to Chattanooga, God soon called her back into working with children and allowed her to serve Him in several local Baptist churches as Minister to Children. She enjoyed leading conferences for the state of TN for over fifteen years and became a certified trainer in both preschool and children. After a long lengthy illness and her husband’s death, she and her daughter, Carolyn, moved to Nashville and there continued advancement in Children’s Ministry and was commissioned in Christian Ministry in 2005 at Crievewood Baptist Church.
Phyllis retired after almost twenty seven years of ministry, but has continued to work part time as well as volunteering with several local organizations and leading various seminars including Grief Share and Widows Ministry. Phyllis lives in Ooltewah and enjoys being Nana to her two grandchildren, walking, working out at the gym, and sharing special times with friends and family.
Phyllis has always said her middle name is Change and as she has faced new challenges in life her go to verse has been Isaiah 40:31 ... But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength, they will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
