More about the youth's planned mission trip to Honduras

In 2010 or 2011, we plan to partner with SURO Missions Ministries for an international mission trip.  Roatan is home to an impoverished population with an average income of four hundred dollars per year. The island has a growing and desperate population of orphans in need of homes, food and medical attention. While in Roatan, Honduras we plan to work at an orphanage, do some “Street Ministry”, participate in at least two different worship services, and do whatever else SURO needs us to do.  I led a youth group on a mission trip to this same place in 2008 and the amount of poverty we saw was horrific and yet the people showed such amazing faith in God.  The students of First-Centenary are excited about this trip.  SURO Missions has already built a hospital (small clinic) on the island and is working on several new projects for 2010 & 2011.

The cost for our 2010 mission trip is $36,000 ($1,800 per person).  Each person pays close to half of the total cost, around $10,000 comes from the Student Ministry Budget and the rest comes from fundraisers like this one.  We have never attempted to raise this much money in such a small amount of time before.  So your support is greatly needed and appreciated!
