Inner City Ministry

The mission of the Inner City Ministry of First-Centenary is to follow the example of Christ by sharing his ideals with children and their families in the Chattanooga community. Through educational, physical, social, spiritual, and work programs, we help these children and their families build self-esteem, cultivate self-discipline, develop better communication skills and respect for others. We celebrate the diversity and dignity of all people and strive to create an atmosphere for racial reconciliation to occur.

Spiritual Development
The mind controlled by the spirit is life and peace. (Romans 8:6b)

Camp Lookout and weekly Bible study enhance spiritual values of Inner City children. Church members actively support this experience through volunteering, camperships, and donations.

Educational Development
Blessed are those who find wisdom, those who gain understanding. Proverbs 3:13

Getting things done is not always what is most important. There is a value in allowing others to learn, even if the task is not accomplished as quickly, efficiently, or effectively. (R. D. Clyde)

Physical Development
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your strength.
Mark 12:30.

The program offers a wide variety of recreational activities for participants K-12. Recreation plays an important role in the development and enhancement of children. Many activities are in conjunction with the City of Chattanooga's Parks, Recreation, Arts and Culture Department.
