Blue Knob Mission Trip | July 16 - 22, 2017

GENERAL INFORMATION:
In July 2017 our high school students will participate in a mission trip to Blue Knob, Pennsylvania. This trip is available to all students (youth & young adults - grades 9 and up). We will once again partner with TEAMeffort Missions Ministry. We have a great deal of trust in TEAMeffort because of the many other mission trips we have completed with them.

THE NEED:
TEAMeffort’s Blue Knob camp (located just outside of Altoona, PA) is nestled in the Appalachian mountains and there are plenty of service opportunities in the community. We will serve families and ministries in need through hands-on projects like painting, home repair, roofing and building wheelchair ramps.

WHAT WILL WE BE DOING?
Our group will help with minor home repair projects. We will work every day from 8am to 4pm except for Thursday (which is a half day) and Friday (which is our free day). We will visit Hershey Amusement Park on Friday, July 21st.

HOW MUCH WILL THIS TRIP COST?
The cost per participant is $250 plus expenses. There is limited room for this trip. Therefore, a $50 non-refundable deposit will hold your space. All meals are provided except on traveling days (Sunday, July 16th and Saturday, July 22nd) and on our half day (Thursday, July 20th), and our free day (Friday, July 21st). That is a total of 10 meals.

There is also a store at each camp location called “The Swamp” where our students can purchase drinks, snacks, tshirts, etc. We recommend a minimum of $140 per person for spending money.

LODGING:
We will stay in apartment style dormitories at Penn. State University in Altoona, PA. Males and females will be in separate rooms of course. Everyone must bring their own pillow and linens or sleeping bag.

PREPARATION FOR THE TRIP:
There will be a parent’s meeting on Sunday, June 18, 2017 immediately after the morning worship services in the Student Center Lounge. All participants and one parent (if participant is a minor) are required to attend this meeting.
