Prime Time Wednesday
September 19, 26; October 3, 10, 17 – Conversation on A Way Forward
Dinner at 5 p.m. (make reservations by 4 p.m. on Monday)
Conversation at 6 p.m.
Some of you are aware that the United Methodist Church has been having a very public discussion and discernment about human sexuality. This dates back to the General Conference in 1972 and has continued every four years until 2016 when the General Conference voted to hold a special called conference in February 2019 to address the division in the church around scripture interpretations and human sexuality.
When we think about the state of the United Methodist Church right now, we see the image of a group of people who are on a long journey and need to take a moment to center themselves, evaluate the situation and develop a way forward. As a denomination, a conference, and a church we are at a place of prayer, evaluation, and preparation.
Over the next five Prime Time Wednesdays, Pastor Mark and Pastor Will will explore where we have been, where we are, and where we are going. Embracing the Wideness will be referenced throughout the series. Books will be available for purchase ($10) in the church office.
September 19 – Where have we been so far?
September 26 – Where are we now?
October 3 – What tools (resources) are at our disposal?
October 10 – What does the path look like?
October 17 – Where is God calling us in the future?
