From The Prayer Calendar 2005

“Deaconess Fran Lynch spends a week each month teaching Sunday School at Anvik and Grayling.  She arranges for the Christian Pilots Association to fly about 25 of these village kids to attend camp at Birchwood.  She entertains the kids at her home the weekend before camp.  On Sunday, they attend Willow UMC, many for the first time, as there is no church in either village.  Fran picks them up when they return from camp, treats them to dinner at a restaurant and takes them shopping before they go back to their villages.

Bonnie Campbell , Alaska , Missionary

Please pray for Fran, Bonnie and the Alaska UMC.

Alice Hankins, Spiritual Growth Coordiinator

Have you picked up your cookbooks yet? They are now available in the church office. We have a good supply, so think of them as gifts for birthdays, or other special occasions. They are really beautiful. Cost is $12 and well worth it! Buy 5 or more and get 10% discount; if you submitted 5 or more recipes, your cookbook cost is just $11.
Lock Up for Missions
A Lockup for Missions was held on Friday, April 1 in the youth lounge. Funds raised are to be divided between UMW and the African mission trip.

THE EMBLEM

The official emblem for United Methodist Women, as well as for the United Methodist Church, combines the cross and the flame. The cross and flame are ancient symbols of Christ and Pentecost. The shape of the emblem is free-flowing, suggesting change and mobility. "I now remind you to stir into flame the gift of God which is within you." (II Timothy 1:6 NEB)

Our heritage is one of sacrifice, witness, and service. The emblem serves as a continuing reminder of both opportunity and obligation.

The cross, the flame, the individual with her abilities and opportunities - all are elements of a 21st century movement of United Methodist Women
