Our Inner City Ministry currently includes nineteen elementary school Hispanic children who participate in the afternoon program activities. Their attendance has been limited to the days that volunteers can provide transportation from East Side Elementary and then return them home at the end of the day. With additional volunteers to drive the church van, they could attend every day.
The Inner City Ministry would like to have a part time staff member who speaks Spanish and would be able to communicate with the families of these and other children. This requirement is being considered for inclusion in the upcoming budget period.
Volunteers are also needed to help the students do homework or read on Mondays, Tuesdays or Thursdays. Please call Monique Strickland at 266-3345, for additional information.
