Janice McNair joined the First-Centenary staff as Director of Music Ministries in August 1995.  She is responsible for the administration and coordination of the music ministry and is responsible for planning worship services that are held in the Nave.  A graduate of DePauw University with a degree in violin performance, she went on to study at Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University graduating with the Master of Sacred Music and Master of Music in Violin Performance degrees.  Following graduation, she and husband Jonathan moved to Cleveland, Ohio for Jonathan to pursue his doctorate at the Cleveland Institute of Music.  Jan was part of the staff at Church of the Saviour United Methodist in Cleveland Hts. for eight years.   After growing a part-time music program into a full time ministry, the McNairs along with sons Ben and Andrew, moved to Chattanooga.  Highlights of her tenure at First-Centenary include the opportunity to study with Alice Parker at her home in 2000 and again in 2001.  In 2003 she was the winner of a Sabbatical Grant for Pastoral Leaders funded by the Lilly Foundation.  Currently, she is enrolled as a student in the Robert E. Webber Institute for Worship Studies, working to complete the Doctorate in Worship Studies in 2011.
